What should a business check before arranging roof and gutter cleaning?

Commercial Scope

Encanto accepts large commercial and industrial roof and gutter projects, including large commercial gutter-only jobs, across Birmingham and the West Midlands. Residential houses are not included. The scope identifies the gutter runs, accessible outlets and building areas involved; gutter-only cleaning does not automatically include the roof covering.

What should a business check before arranging roof and gutter cleaning?

Start with roof information: covering, known defects, repairs and any relevant asbestos survey. Manufacturer care guidance helps establish restrictions. If material identity is uncertain, resolve that before agreeing cleaning; appearance alone does not rule out asbestos or determine an appropriate treatment.

Site arrangements matter equally. Rooflights, fragile areas, access, electrical equipment and entrances or loading bays influence the plan. A roof must not be assumed safe to walk on. Suitable work-at-height arrangements are established independently of cleaning technique, with consideration for people and operations below.

Finally, distinguish gutter debris removal, roof surface cleaning and concealed-drainage investigation. They are separate tasks with different access and assessment needs. Leaks, damaged coverings and suspected structural problems require specialist attention rather than a cleaning promise. A defined scope avoids mistaking a cleaner roof for a repaired or certified roof. Include available drawings, surveys and operational restrictions with your enquiry.
